Common Misfits Issue 8 Season Finale Part 1

The Matron had gathered the remainder of her forces at the Point of Reality. A formidable army, she was ready for the domination of all.

“It’s time!” She announced. “After many eons of being here, we have been preparing for this fight for the last 10 years. Now is our moment; now is when we strike. The fight begins now.”

A portal opened to Galin City and the Matron with General Chain stepped out.

“Shit,” exclaimed Carrie, “she’s in Galin City!”

“Then let the final fight begin,” said Son.

Back at the prison, Hector grabbed Rufus and Mathew. He had bound Mathew’s wrists preventing him from shifting. Elania began slowly vibrating.

“What is it darling?” Astrid asked.

“For a brief time of merging we need to stay together longer to cement our link. Otherwise we fall apart.” Elania explained.

“That would explain things,” said Astrid looking at her blackening hands.

Hector had gathered Zen Soldiers and defense robots outside the cells. He brought Mathew and Rufus into the interrogation room.

“My oh my Rufus,” Hector said with a chuckle. “How does it feel to be a leader who is powerless? Your building is trapped by me and no way to bring it back. You will die here friend. This is your end.”

“For one, when did you become such a dick? Secondly there will never be an end as long as I still breathe.”

“You will stop breathing but not before I have my fun.” Hector said before stabbing Rufus in the side with a piece of rebar. Rufus cried out in pain.

Over at Galin City the portal opened up, Christie appeared and shifted everyone in. They got ready for the fight.

“Are you all ready to die?” The Matron yelled.

“If this is to be the end,” Harptheon called back, “Then it will be one for the record books.”

“Send the pawns first,” the Matron motioned to General Chain.

General Chain raised his hand. The chains came up to a point as if they were a blade. He held it forward and an army of Zen soldiers ran out of the portal and charged at the team. The Matron opened her palms and several portals across multiple realities opened.

Tribute and Bolton were eating when there was a crack and a portal opened. They ran over to it.

“That’s earth if I have it right.” Tribute said holding Excalibur. “Can we cross over?”

“It looks like it is being used to channel the powers of this reality.” Bolton said holding out a hand and attempting to shift it.

“Can you make it into a portal?”

“I can try, but it won’t be easy.”

“This is most likely being channeled by the Matron. It means my friend is in trouble and may need my help. I need you to do more than try.”

“Give me time Tribute.”

Mathew tried to break free of his bonds in Hector’s prison, but it wasn’t working. Elania was shaking harder and the darkness was covering Astrid. She had a plan but it had to be at the right moment. Rufus saw a crystal that glowed the same way as Mathew’s bonds. Hector hit Rufus hard in the head and he fell over.

“Hey dipshit,” Mathew said pissed off, “pick on someone on your own level.”

“You have to be kidding me.” Hector said manically laughing. “Do you really think you’re on my level?”

“I don’t kid. Free me from these bonds and I’ll show you how much you aren’t a true Shifter.”

“No but torturing you next seem fun. I commemorate you for volunteering to help Rufus who clearly doesn’t deserve it.” Rufus was able to see straight and sat up as Hector walked up to Mathew. “Unlike Rufus you really don’t matter to me. So I’m going to simply kill you.” He raised the rebar and aimed it at Mathew’s chest. Rufus jumped forward, grabbed the crystal and took the blow in the shoulder. He slammed the hand holding the crystal down and it shattered. The bonds disappeared from Mathews wrists. “No,” Hector called out.

“And now I believe this is the moment I say fuck you.” Mathew said holding out a hand. He and Hector glowed purple. There was a loud crack and they disappeared.

The army and team ran at each other on earth. The Zen soldiers brandished blades. Kathleen wrapped her ribbons around a car and threw it. Christie held out a hand and it shifted in front of the army. Ashley let off a fireball and the car exploded. Harptheon landed and threw two of the Zen soldiers into a nearby building. She caught the blade of another trying to strike her. Jason jumped over the flames and shattered the skull of the soldier attacking Harptheon with his claws.

“I had it,” said Harptheon, “but that was fun.

Jason growled and ran forward.

“Release the rest of the Anti-particle squad and prepare the commanders.” The Matron said to General Chain. The remainder of the Anti-particle squad emerged from the portal.

“Take up your posts,” ordered General Chain. The Anti-particle squad acknowledged and crashed into the windows of a nearby building.

The flames were dying down. Son aimed TADRA and brought them back to the way they were at the explosion. Kathleen tossed light pole after light pole at the Matron’s forces. Replicor brandished his blade and joined in the folly. He met the blade of one of the Zen soldiers, knocked it back and stabbed it in the chest. Sparks appeared and the explosion sent everyone flying back.

Astrid looked out and saw that Mathew at Hector disappeared.

“That’s our queue,” she said taking out a ring.

“Is that the mark one?” Elania asked.

“I was saving it as a way for you to remember Lori.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too. How about we show them what we can do.”

“I agree.”

Astrid put on the ring, they touched hands and merged. Astrid made several hand signs and pressed her palms forward. A blast of shadows killed Ross. She made more hand signs and blew open the cell. Ross swung his axe and broke out as well.

“Let me take over,” said Elania. “I don’t know how well the mark one will work for us so we need the mark two back.

Astrid nodded, Elania took over and they sped through the soldiers. She ran over to the room holding the mark two. Making a few hand signs, she burst open the door with shadows. Elania and Astrid unmerged, grabbed the mark two and remerged. Ross sped out and swung through the soldiers and robots now coming at him. Mathew and Hector shifted into the hanger. Hector raised his and. There was a rumble. They both glowed gold and purple. Then they disappeared reappearing in random parts of the Misfit Society and disappearing again. Elania caught up with Ross.

“Elania and Astrid, with you permission I would like to take over,” said Darius.

“Can you do that?” Astrid asked.

“In theory it should be possible.” Darius noted.

“I’m game. Are you okay with it love.”

“I’m only asking as to the why.” Elania said.

“I aim to show these bastards the true powers of a Dark Archangel.” Shadows covered Elania and Darius took over. He made many hand signs rapidly. “Ross take on the others at the end of the hall. I’ve got this.”

Ross took off running. Darius made one more hand sign and slapped his hands on the floor. The floor was blanketed in shadows. He raised one of his hands and spikes went through the robots, made an arc, and stabbed the soldiers. He rose up both hands and clapped them. The soldiers and robots collided and were obliterated. Ross finished killing those at the end of the hall. He looked back in shock. Elania took over.

“Okay that was badass,” she said laughing. Running over to Ross, the Ethereal Trio unmerged.

“Well that was impressive.” Ross noted.

“What’s the next move?” Astrid asked.

“We wait for Mathew. Well and grab Rufus.”

They had brought Rufus up to a wall when the ground violently shook. There was a crack of purple and gold light and Mathew along with hector remerged. Mathew shifted in a rock and rendered Hector unconscious.

“Barely a shifter and a shithead at that,” Mathew said glaring at Hector. The rest of the prison started to collapse. “Everyone hold onto me. Let’s go home.”

Everyone touched Mathew and he held out a hand.

The team on earth stood up as more of the army emerged from the portal.

“Well shit this is the end.” Son said.

“I’m not looking to die today. I aim to keep fighting and see my fiancé again.”

Right as she said that, there was a purple glow and Mathew along with Rufus, Elania, Astrid and Ross emerged. The Common Misfits were reunited.
